Trump: we should have left UCLA basketball players in jail

President Trump on Sunday lashed out during a father of a UCLA basketball actor who downplayed Trump’s significance in removing his son expelled from shoplifting charges in China.

“Now that a 3 basketball players are out of China and saved from years in jail, LaVar Ball, a father of LiAngelo, is unaccepting of what we did for his son and that shoplifting is no large deal. we should have left them in jail!” Trump tweeted. 

LaVar Ball’s son LiAngelo Ball and dual other players were arrested and indicted of shoplifting from a Louis Vuitton store while a UCLA basketball group was on a outing to China for a season-opening game.

The players faced intensity jail sentences for a charge, though Trump reportedly spoke to Chinese President Xi Jinping about solution a situation. The players were released, and landed in a United States final week.

Trump took credit for their release, and questioned in a twitter whether the players would appreciate him.

The players subsequently hold a press discussion final week in that they apologized for a occurrence and thanked Trump.

ESPN on Friday asked LaVar Ball about Trump’s purpose in bringing his son behind to a United States.

“Who?” Ball responded. “What was he over there for? Don’t tell me nothing. Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out.”
